The Director of Business Analytics, Intelligence and Data Science is responsible for delivering insights (based on strong data analysis and insightful business acumen) to senior stakeholders across Harvard Business Publishing Corporate Learning. A successful candidate will have strong business and technical acumen, as well as great problem solving, communication, and management skills. You love data, love conducting analysis and thrive on gleaning insights out of imperfect information. You have technical chops and have mastered the latest Business Intelligence tools and systems (Alteryx, Tableau, Birst). You are a problem solver at heart and you are great at structuring problems, gleaning insights and packaging them for discussion with senior business leaders. You are both a thinker and a doer.
Lead the Corporate Learning organization in developing and executing its Business Analytics & Intelligence strategy, with the goal of converting data and information into actionable insights that drive profitable growth.
Develop an approach to prioritize the most critical initiatives, guide overall project management of those initiatives, and create an effective communications approach so stakeholders clearly understand the status of initiatives and what’s in the pipeline.
Partner with internal customers (e.g., Executive Leaders, Sales, Product Management, Delivery, Marketing) to develop analyses that lead to actionable insights.
Help improve current analysis and timeliness of analytical reporting while implementing more advanced predictive modeling and statistical techniques to solve more complex business problems.
You will have experience in our main technical environment and tools: Alteryx, Tableau, Birst, Oracle, Salesfore.com, including relevant database management and programming experience
Be able to influence critical business outcomes in a matrixed, global environment with competing priorities.
Represent Corporate Learning and partner with the broader HBP Analytics Technology Council to develop, establish, and implement the enterprise analytics architecture, standards, methods and best practices to consistently develop meaningful analysis across all of Harvard Business Publishing.
Directly manage a small, (2-3 people) talented and highly engaged team, and manage through influence and persuasion a larger team of technology and functional subject matter experts. Comfortable managing and leading in a fast paced, adaptable environment with changing priorities.
10+ years’ experience in a business intelligence, analytics, or data science.
Worked in highly regarded companies/organizations, with high standards for excellence.
Degree in math, statistics, computer science, other quantitative discipline with strong business background.
Relevant certifications helpful: Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), etc.
