Virginia Tech invites applicants for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice of Property Management in the Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management. This is an academic year, non-tenure-track position with expertise in property management at the Blacksburg, Virginia campus. We seek a multi-talented individual to work in collaboration with the Department Head and faculty to continue the development and promotion of an academic program that is one of the leading property management degrees in the country. The successful candidate will teach courses in all aspects of property management and conduct outreach with partners in the property management and real estate industries. The successful candidate will be required to provide transcripts of the highest level of academic achievement. The starting date is August 10, 2018. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a candidate is appointed. Salary is dependent on qualifications.
Teach undergraduate courses: the expected teaching load is three courses per semester • Supervise student internships with property management companies • Advise undergraduate students majoring in property management • Participate in curriculum development • Direct and participate in recruitment activities to enhance enrollments in the Property Management major. • Support and advise student organization • Engage in outreach and advancement activities to Property Management Advisory Board members, alumni, and companies in property management, such as a securing speakers, supervising the annual career fair, and bi-annual advisory board meetings. • Provide service to the university and profession • Participate in occasional travel to attend professional meetings

Assistant Professor of Practice must hold a master’s degree in business, real estate, or related field; 3-5 years work experience as a property manager or similar field. Associate Professor of Practice must hold a master‘s degree in business, real estate, or related field; 5-15 years experience in property management, involvement in professional activities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability and willingness to understand and work effectively with various campus units and external industry groups. Appreciation of diverse cultures and audiences.
Assistant Professor of Practice – teaching experience in property management professional courses. Associate Professor of Practice – teaching experience in property management professional courses; demonstrated teaching experience with college students.
Knowledge of undergraduate program policies in higher education.
